Course Overview

The Postgraduate Diploma in Strategic Leadership and Management is a CMI-accredited Level 7 qualification built for working professionals who lead organisations or aspire to do so.

Delivered entirely online and fully self-paced, this programme lets you advance your career without stepping away from it.

You will study the disciplines that define modern strategic leadership: corporate finance, governance, marketing, operations, project management, entrepreneurship, and strategic planning. Optional modules in human resource management and personal leadership development allow you to build specialist depth where it matters most to you.

On completion, you will hold a globally recognised 120-credit postgraduate qualification and become eligible for Chartered Manager status through CMI. You may then progress to the dissertation stage of an MBA or master’s degree at one of TNHE Institute’s UK partner universities, completing a full master’s without repeating what you already know.

Leadership for Strategic Managers

Examine the principles and analytical frameworks that define effective leadership in complex organisations. Drawing on both theory and real-world practice, this module prepares you to navigate strategic decision-making, lead diverse teams, and drive organisational performance in dynamic, competitive environments.

Strategic Finance

Develop a working command of financial management as it applies to strategic decisions. You will explore financial statements, the accounting cycle, ratio analysis, and management accounting concepts, equipping you to engage confidently with financial data and contribute meaningfully to your organisation’s commercial planning.

Corporate Governance and Globalisation

Explore the principles and global best practices of corporate governance and understand how governance structures shape an organisation’s strategic direction. This module gives you a broader perspective on accountability, ethics, and the responsibilities of leadership in an interconnected global business environment.

Strategic Project Management

Master the methodologies, modelling tools, and analytical techniques used to design and deliver projects across diverse sectors. This module builds your capacity to plan, manage risk, and drive projects to successful completion, directly linking effective project management to measurable organisational outcomes.

Strategic Operations Issues

Gain a thorough grounding in operations management and the principles behind Lean, Just-in-Time, Total Quality Management, Six Sigma, and supply chain management. You will learn how to apply these frameworks across varied organisational contexts to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and sustain quality.

Strategic Marketing

Develop a strategic approach to marketing, covering market orientation, customer acquisition, brand management, positioning, and the customer experience. You will learn to identify market opportunities, analyse competitive landscapes, and build ethical, evidence-based marketing strategies that connect with audiences across different global contexts.

Entrepreneurship for Strategic Managers

Deepen your understanding of entrepreneurship from idea to impact. This module covers innovation, venture strategy, financing, operations, and sustainable growth, exploring how entrepreneurial thinking creates value for individuals, organisations, and communities. Applicable whether you are building something new or leading change within an established organisation.

Strategic Management and Planning

Develop a thorough understanding of the strategic management process and the tools that support it. You will work with established planning frameworks to define strategic direction, ensure organisational continuity, and build the long-term roadmap that underpins sustainable growth and competitive advantage.

Strategic Human Resource Management

Analyse HRM policy and practice in contemporary organisations, covering workforce planning, recruitment, training and development, performance management, remuneration, and HR effectiveness. The module also addresses diversity, legal compliance, ethics, and sustainable HRM, giving you a comprehensive view of the people management function.

Personal Leadership Development

Explore leadership across three dimensions: leading yourself, leading others, and leading change. Drawing on the Manager’s Toolkit, this module develops the transferable skills and self-awareness needed to drive strategy, achieve organisational objectives, and sustain your own growth as a leader throughout your career.

What you will achieve

This qualification does more than add letters after your name. It builds the strategic intelligence that organisations need at their most senior levels.

You will graduate with a CMI-accredited Level 7 qualification worth 120 postgraduate credits and the eligibility to apply for Chartered Manager status, one of the most respected professional designations in management. You will be equipped to lead strategic initiatives, manage complex functions, and make evidence-based decisions with confidence.

Internationally recognised and practically grounded, the qualification opens doors across industries and borders. Combined with a direct pathway to an MBA or master’s degree at a UK partner university, this diploma positions you to advance faster, lead better, and compete on a global stage.

How you will learn

Everything is designed around your life as a working professional. The programme is delivered entirely online through TNHE Institute’s feature-rich learning platform, giving you 24-hour access to recorded lectures, textbooks, multimedia content, and structured learning materials whenever and wherever suits you.

Each module carries approximately 60 guided learning hours, supported by an additional 30 to 50 hours of optional materials including recommended readings, self-testing exercises, and curated online resources. You can move as quickly or as steadily as your schedule allows.

On-demand tutoring is available at no extra cost, with tutors accessible via email, phone, or video call. You are never studying alone. You are studying on your own terms.

How you will be assessed

Each module is assessed through a single written assignment, meaning eight assignments in total across the full programme. There are no traditional examinations.

As a CMI-accredited programme, assessment briefs follow CMI’s standards. Assignments are designed to be work-related wherever possible, encouraging you to draw on your professional context, apply relevant management theory to real organisational challenges, and demonstrate analytical rigour appropriate to Level 7 study.

You will be expected to engage critically with academic literature, support your arguments with evidence, and where relevant, make informed recommendations. Working professionals are actively encouraged to apply their assignments directly to their own organisation, turning every submission into a practical management exercise.

Credit for what you already know

If you have already studied at postgraduate level or have substantial relevant professional experience, you may not need to complete every module from scratch. TNHE Institute’s Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) process allows you to demonstrate existing knowledge, skills, or competencies against the assessment requirements of specific modules.

Where your prior learning is verified as valid and sufficient, you may be awarded credit for one or more modules, reducing your remaining study time and helping you qualify sooner.

RPL is assessed on an individual basis. Evidence must be credible, current, and directly relevant to the module in question. To find out whether your background qualifies, speak with our admissions team or visit our dedicated RPL guidance page before you apply.

This programme is designed for motivated people who are ready to invest in their future. Here is what we look for.

If you have formal qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification, plus a minimum age of 22.
  • IELTS 6.5 or equivalent is a standard regulatory requirement for postgraduate study. If you have studied or worked in English, our admissions team will be able to assess and map your prior experience against the required standard.

If you do not have formal qualifications:

  • A minimum of five years of managerial experience.
  • The same English language and age requirements apply.

Assignments are practical and work-based, meaning you can apply your coursework directly to your current role. Most learners complete the programme in 8 to 12 months without reducing their professional commitments.

Do I need a degree to apply?

Not necessarily. If you do not hold a bachelor’s degree, you may still qualify through our professional entry pathway, provided you have at least five years of managerial or supervisory experience. Our admissions team will review your professional background to confirm your eligibility before you apply.

Upon completing this 120-credit Level 7 diploma, you may progress to the dissertation or advanced entry stage of an MBA or master’s degree at one of LIBT’s UK partner universities.
